Re: Killer Whale Lands On Kayak : Proof It’s fake

Posted on June 30th, 2009 by admin in advertising company |

A comparison of the original stock wildlife footage and the doctored footage used for Asian Poweraid sports “very real power” campaign. The advertising company was Wieden & Kennedy and the campaign won a Cannes lion advertising award.
Compositing software such as Adobe After Effects or Shake has been used to insert images of kayakers recorded in a pool or lake into existing wildlife footage of a leaping orca.
Wild orcas are too careful to do something as reckless as this.

Lol. Yes it was an overreaction. Just tired of people thoughtlessly repeating what they hear without actually making any attempt to validate it. Wikipedia is fairly hard to troll, and you would be very unlucky to pick some false info from it unless you were looking at something ridiculously specific. Any people, places or media most likely will reject it within the hour,

The orca is real, the kayakers are real, it’s just that they were never together in the same place, but added together in compositing software.

haha, I have absolutely no interest in that, sorry.
I’m just telling you about this to try to protect a little of the AirCalv’s dignity. You just ripped him up as if he was making a personal attack on your mother, just brutal.
    Consider anger management.

Try it yourself. No consequences. Make up something moderately believable on an article that is not a stub. Tell me what happens. I’m telling you mine didn’t go through.

I’m sorry, but he’s right. It was actually reported that a student put something on Wikipedia for a study, he faked a quote from a dead poet. He didn’t think anyone would use it, but it turned out many major newspaper used the quote when writing about the poet.
People can write almost anything on Wikipedia, and it’ll get through, just a fact.
    Anyone can list fake sources.
How are they supposed to know it’s wrong?

    You’re not a good …
You’re not a good source either so shut the up or learn to spell. The people who edit are MUCH smarter than you anyways. You mean to say articles, and most articles on the internet outside of wikipedia use random other information from random other sites. At least wikipedia states sources. Also, try and change something there. It will be taken down almost immediately if it’s wrong. You can’t just type whatever the you want so stop being brain washed by your teachers or again STFU.

    Nope, go re-read …
Nope, go re-read the entry. it says “An internet distributed video with millions of viewers shows an orca appearing to jump on a group of kayakers. Regularly presented on TV news as a real attack and discussed by zoologists, it is really a hoax advert by Wieden Kennedy for a sports drink using computer compositing.”
i know because I wrote it.

  25. shamustalker Says:

    No. This video is …
No. This video is real. I was on wikipedia looking up killer whales and under one of the sections it said that a video of a killer whale attacking a kayak is true and that video was posted by a zoologist. Not the videomaker here. End of conclusion: It’s not fake.
