What software should a beginner in advertising get to know?

I am interested in getting into advertising, specifically television and magazines, and I would just like to know what are some of the basic softwares a beginner should familiarize themselves with in order to get started and what do advertising companies look for?

  1. Mostly the skills people will look for is your talking ability but the most important software is probably spreadsheets like Microsoft excel.
