Are Metro Radio in Newcastle in the process of re-branding to Heart?

Posted on November 11th, 2009 by admin in branding |

The music they play sound nothing like Heart’s playlist but they use the slogan ‘more music variety’ which is Heart’s catchphrase! I thought all the stations re-branding to Heart have already done so, though.

So if they aren’t re-branding then they have stolen someone else’s slogan, which is illegal!

As above Metro are owned by Bauer and Heart is owned by Global, so a rebrand to Heart is unlikely.

As for stealing someone else’s ideas, there is no such thing as an original idea in commercial radio.

I can confirm that Metro Radio is not in the process of re-branding to Heart.

Trust me, I am in the know and what I say is fact.

Metro Radio is owned by Bauer Radio (ex EMAP). The Heart brand is owned and operated by a different company called Global radio. I don’t think Metro Radio is rebranding. As for the slogan it depends if Global radio registered it as being their own.
