How do I get the burnt flesh out of my branding iron?

OK. my 4 year old son was playing with my family’s old branding iron, and he accidently burned his head. it was a pretty bad burn, but hes got an ice pack so he’ll be fine. now my question is how do i get the flesh out of the iron? it has sentimental value.
Also he is a twin, would it be ok to use the scar as a way to tell the twins apart

First of all, next time try to keep it out of his reach.
And second, maybe if you heat it up, it might burn off. I don’t know though, it’s just a guess, but you can give it a shot.

Sentimental value? Perhaps you sohuld be putting your kid before sentimental value and keeping an eye on him around someting like that?

As for getting the flesh out, reheating it might work but it would smell…But personally i’d get rid of it as it may happen again…
