How can one market his/her service creatively without spending too much money on marketing?

A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:

1) Create a blog pertaining to your field

2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

4) Advertise on Craiglist

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other’s sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

I listed a few handy sites & articles relating to marketing, promotion & advertising. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

  1. You don’t have a choice. You have to spend money to get your name out there. It’s not what you know but who you know.

  2. word of mouth is the best and cheapest.. The best I have seen is http://qlippa.com

If you go there and then look at the ‘Tell me how page’ they go into a lot of detail about how word of mouth marketing affects sales revenue and profitability.. Best thing is to set up your business on it, it’s free, add articles about the things you do, then invite customers to the community.. The system gives you a breakdown of your customer loyalty and gives customers a way to do word of mouth referrals for you online.. It’s cool, free, and it works.

Also, it’s a great way for a google search to find you!
