How do promotion points work for Army officers?

How many do you need for a promotion? What kind of things help you get them?

Army officers don’t have promotion points. Unless you screw up or don’t complete your training you will be promoted from 2LT to 1LT after 18 months and to Captain 18 months after your promotion to 1LT. Your first competitive promotion will be from Captain to Major when you have about 9 or 10 years time in service. Currently the selection rate from Captain to Major is 99 percent.

There are no promotion points for officers.

Your promoted based on your performance reports.

IE: what you have actually accomplished as a commander and officer.
