What are the promotion requirements in various American states?
In the K-12 educational system, what are different standards which various states have for promotion onto the next grade? Examples of this might be passing state standardized exams, or maintaining a certain average in a course. Please give urls and even if you only know the information for 1 or 2 states, that’d be very helpful. Thanks!
I live in California, and promotion requirements are pretty basic here.
There are standardized exams (the STAR test) but if you do not pass those, you’re put in remedial courses the next year. You’re still promoted.
You have to get a D (60%-69%) average to pass. Some schools are more stringent and only allow a C average (70-79%) for promotion.
Of course, this is for public schools in the LA area. It may vary across the state.
