What to wear to promotion other than a dress?

Tomorrow is 8th grade promotion and the teachers want the girls to dress in dresses. I can’t stand wearing a dress because I have a habit of not sitting correctly. What is something nice to wear but not a dress?

a cute pencil skirt and blouse, or maybe a baggy shirt.
